Dr. Giammaria Fiorentini, M.D.
Scientific Research, Studies and Practice of Oncology Hyperthermia in Italy
Dr. Fiorentini talks about his scientific research and treatment of Hyperthermia in the Saint Giuseppe Hospital in Florence, Italy. He also spoke about brain, abdomen, prostate, liver and more cancers successfully treated with Hyperthermia. Dr. Fiorentini also talked about how Hyperthermia helps patients in reducing their pain and the application of Hyperthermia with low doses of chemotherapy.
PROFESSOR GIAMMARIA FIORENTINI, M.D. graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Ferrara, with a specialization in Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Applied Pharmacology. He was the Medical Director for the Division of Medical Oncology Hospital Santa Maria delle Croci in Ravenna from 1979 to 2002.
Since 2002, in addition to being the primary of Medical Oncology and head of home care oncology and palliative care, Dr. Fiorentini was also in charge of the cancer ASL 11 Empoli department, a territory that includes 14 municipalities for an area of over 230,000 inhabitants.
Besides hospital activities, Giammaria Fiorentini, M.D., author of approximately 115 articles on Italian and international scientific journals, has served as a professor at the University of Florence and has held numerous masters about nursing in oncology and palliative care, as well as on Phytotherapy clinic.
He wrote two books about his research on Hyperthermia: Hyperthermia In Cancer Treatment and Cancer Microenvironment and Therapeutic Applications.
In 1985, Dr. Fiorentini won the award and scholarship of the Italian Foundation for Cancer Research. He also also the recipient of the oncology international prize ‘Krementz Award’ in Germany.
Dr. Fiorentini is the primary investigator of the Institute of Oncology Romagnolo research project, and has been the consultant for Oncology therapies and regional innovative site at Bellaria Hospital in Bologna. He is a founding member of the International Society for Regional Cancer Therapy of the Italian Society Therapies Integrated Regional Centre for Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He also served as Vice President of the International Clinical Hyperthermia Society.
Currently, Dr. Fiorentini is Director of the Oncology and Surgery Department at the San Giuseppe Hospital.
